I must say that I have loved my time in SRIA, and hope for many more years to come as an active member. The major problem that i have noticed is that most people don't know what the SRIA is. Several confuse it with Rose Croix, which is a completely different Order.I like the fact that it is relatively small, but think it would be nice to have a few new faces every now and then, in fact if all goes to plan, we will be admitting a new member at our next meeting. There is also now a recently formed but unrecognised (not in amity) group in Ireland - SRIH (Hibernia). As has been mentioned each state in America has only one College with a maximum permitted membership of 72. The 2 exception are California and New York which have 2 College's due to the size of the states and the higher overall number of Master Masons. I also recommend the book - The Golden Builders by Bro. Tobias Churton. The strange thing is that I found what I had expected in SRIA (but did not find there) in LDH in the Craft Lauderdale Ritual. The best analogy I can think of is that of a screened and earthed (grounded) box. One will have difficulties sending or receiving a radio signal in such a box (a faraday cage) but in another location with no such screening and assuming your equipment is good then this problem disappears. So for some reason I was "screened" in SRIA but this restriction did not occur in LDH. I have always maintained your experience was down to several factors, not least taking on the Secretariat at a very early stage of your membership (Sorry Eldmar!) but the most significant was the dynamics of the College. You know I wish you well in LDH and am always happy to know you have found what you were looking for. The simple fact is we are all different and what lights my fire will not be the same as many others here! The heart of man is a sanctuary wherein nothing false, nothing weak should enter. I would like to take time to really get to grips with what I am now in and be able to give them all 100% rather than spread myself too thin and end up not being a useful member of any of them. ChrisH1, no need to apologise, I think that it will give me a very valuable insight into the way the Order works, and how things are done. It helps out the College, and at the risk of sounding a little mercenary, it gives me an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in what is a pretty small group, which I will be able to put to great use in the years to come in Craft / Mark and Chapter. So its a win \ win situation all around really - well it will be as long as I don't mess it up! Thanks dp, hopefully all will go well. Wayne, no rush, the summons will be going out at the end of March, so plenty of time. Likewise if you want to come to my Craft Lodge on the 16th March, we are doing a double 2nd, need to know that one pretty quick tho as dining slips have to be in by Wednesday next week..
