Now I will try to put this carefully as I do not wish to upset Bro Chris but I was in SRIA and it did nothing for me I am sorry to say. The strange thing is that I found what I had expected in SRIA (but did not find there) in LDH in the Craft Lauderdale Ritual.  The best analogy I can think of is that of a screened and earthed (grounded) box. One will have difficulties sending or receiving a radio signal in such a box (a faraday cage) but in another location with no such screening and assuming your equipment is good then this problem disappears.  So for some reason I was "screened" in SRIA but this restriction did not occur in LDH.

Greetings Eldmar,

I am not in SRIA but it is certainly an order that I am interested in for the future.

I have enough going for me in Masonry at this time - I think my next order will be Royal & Select masters and then maybe KT, after that SRIA is of great interest.

Oh dear - so many doors present themselves it is hard to decide which ones to open first.

Hi Vintagemalt, I know just what you mean, having done Craft, SRIA, Mark, Ark Mariner and Chapter in that order, I find myself wondering do I really want to do more? I would like to take time to really get to grips with what I am now in and be able to give them all 100% rather than spread myself too thin and end up not being a useful member of any of them.

ChrisH1, no need to apologise, I think that it will give me a very valuable insight into the way the Order works, and how things are done. It helps out the College, and at the risk of sounding a little mercenary, it gives me an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in what is a pretty small group, which I will be able to put to great use in the years to come in Craft / Mark and Chapter. So its a win \ win situation all around really - well it will be as long as I don't mess it up!

Thanks dp, hopefully all will go well.

Wayne, no rush, the summons will be going out at the end of March, so plenty of time. Likewise if you want to come to my Craft Lodge on the 16th March, we are doing a double 2nd, need to know that one pretty quick tho as dining slips have to be in by Wednesday next week..

Best wishes
Eldmar.

Hello Brethren,

I have recently been admited  into a brand new College, the Menai College No 78, Consecrated on the 29th October 2009, I am taking my 2nd this evening,I quite agree it is a lovely order having read the books which I was given when I was admited, I look forward to many happy years and very eager to expand and learn as I progress.

Greetings Brethren,

Coming from the Grand Lodge of Ireland we do not have a version of SRI, there is the irregular SRIH but being irregular I will not go near it, but I am still interested. Does the SRIA accept Irish Constitution members? Are there any meetings near Bristol, as my wife is from Bristol so could make that an excuse for travelling ;). Also how often would you meet?

Hi c82

Most Colleges meet 3 times a year, if you are over to visit the in-laws in Bristol theses Colleges are nearest;

Caerleon (Newport) 3rd Sat in Feb, June & Sept

Severn (Gloucester) 1st Fri in April, Sept and Nove

Thomas a Beckett (Wokingham)  4th Weds in March & June, 4th Sat in Nov

If you would like more info please let me know.

I am friends with a couple of Belfast guyus that are members of a College in Ayrshire (SRIS)

Chris
