I think the TFM social is an outstanding Idea  and am happy to travel anywhere.

I see from the origional post that many brethren in the north would maybe find it hard to get the time to travel to London.

In light of that does anyone have any ideas for a Northern social meeting ?

Cheers, Iain

How about a meeting in Edinburgh say next November time....

How about a weekend when the Autumn Tests are on at Murrayfield?

Now thats a plan !!!!!

I'm game.

I think "Auld Reekie" would be ideal and central.

We could combine it with the GLoS installation,(Thursday nearest 30th Nov), as 1641 doesn't sit afterwards, and I usually don't go to the Festival of St Andrew after.

That would mean a few beers and still time for me to get the train home around 8pm.

Any thoughts.

I know a couple of drinking holes in Locherbie or Dumfries!

Its only 4 1/2 hrs from London! No problem. (Might have to stay the night though!)

The heart of man is a sanctuary wherein nothing false, nothing weak should enter.

Grand lodge installation in november is a good idea or any of the quarterly communications. Travelling along rose street on any given night is quite good though,(must be about 40 pubs on the 1 street).

Edinburgh, FIRST CLASS IDEA! I'd happily travel up there.

Well I am definitely up for this, although a day or two in London is OK - I would much sooner have a weekend in Edinburgh.

November would be ideal for me. Flybe from Southampton is cheap as chips if booked early. I usually stay at The Knight Residence - nice apartments up to 3 bedrooms.... http://www.theknightresidence.co.uk/apartments

Count me in....who is arranging it?

I would prefer the Installation date. If it was any other communication I would be at Lodge 1641 Sir Robert Moray straight after GLoS. 1641 also dine after their meeting in the New Club Princes St, and numbers are limited, therefore the Installation is better.

There are plenty of waterning holes nearby including "Spoons" if you want cheap beer.

However it shouldn't be arranged around me

I'm more than happy to sign in those brethren who are not members of GL for the Installtion or any other meeting.

On a side note for our GL meetings,(inc installation), a dark lounge suit and "any" tie is acceptable.
