Lodge Polmont is about 15 miles from edinburgh or 20 mins by car or 15 mins by train. In previous years it has been the norm to attend our meeting, socialise till about 2 am(or later if it is your wish). Go home, get some sleep and meet at the station in the morning for 11 am so that the festivities can continue. Lunch in one of Rose streets many hosteleries(other wise known as good pub grub). I always think it is so funny seeing about 300 men walking up and down this one street all in black suits and carrying breif cases. Its like a men in black convention. Get to Grand lodge for the meeting at 2 o'clock and then head back to the local inns for some much needed refreshment. Tickets for the Sheraton hotel(GL function) are £45. and transport will be laid on from GL to the Hotel. We can meet up before the meeting and perhaps those who wish can see the museum and library, etc.I'm usually up there pretty early to sort out a few things with one or two people. We can meet for lunch in "Spoons" along from the hall if anyone fancies or as Alan says there are plenty of choices in Rose St. Those who are GLoS members would take the visitors to one of the GL Stewards tables and sign them in for the day, no problem. Dress is dark lounge suit. The meal at the festival of St Andrews after the GLoS meeting for those who wish to go is £50.00 but that would need to be booked through your own lodge/GL, via GLoS, or phone GLoS direct and book and pay yourself. There are usually free buses from the hall to the meal at the festival of St Andrew in the Sheraton hotel, Lothian Rd, but as this is a meet up then I don't think many would be going to it.I myself can't stay long after the GLoS meeting is over as I'm going into the chair of my Lodge and Council this year and we meet on the 26th Nov, so I need to be down the road in plenty of time. Still I won't be rushing away that early. If anyone want more info just drop me a line. regards bob Post #6358 VintagemaltVintagemalt Posted 24/04/2009 11:33 Master Group: Forum Members Last Login: Yesterday @ 23:44 Posts: 684, Visits: 1,972 Bob & Alan,I would most certainly like to attend the two meetings in November. Edinburgh on 26th & Alan's Lodge in Falkirk the day before. On thinking about it maybe it will be easier to drive up but I can decide that later. There would be two of us coming and we would prefer to stay overnight in Edinburgh. I normally stay at an apartment near the castle when I stay in Edinburgh, this is very convenient - The Knights Residence. Whatever booking in or reservations that are needed for the two meetings i would be grateful if you can help me with. It will be a busy couple of months for me. My Lodge Installation meetings on 2nd October, I am being 'advanced' (?) into Royal Arch Chapter in Southampton on 20th October, joining a Mark Lodge on November 4th and coming to Edinburgh for these two meetings in November as well.
