I have never been proved really, although when entering a Dutch lodge once the OG brought down his sword and asked me for a password. Must confess that I froze and forgot what to say, but the Bro behind prompted me.Soren Post #4564 scottyscotty Posted 18/03/2009 20:49 Apprentice Group: Forum Members Last Login: 23/07/2010 22:11 Posts: 30, Visits: 203 perfect! thanks guys.thought it might be answers from my 2nd or 3rd and though I can remember most I forget some unless I study them again but the signs I can do no probs!just worried because I'm still learning and dont want to make mistakes or look bad for my mother lodgeThanks again Post #4565 VintagemaltVintagemalt Posted 18/03/2009 21:30 Master Group: Forum Members Last Login: Today @ 13:21 Posts: 667, Visits: 1,879 As has been said you should only need the signs from the 3 degrees. To avoid this if you get your Lodge Secretary to phone the Secretary of the Lodge you are visiting you will then be expected and normally will not be asked to prove yourself.Still best to carry your Grand Lodge Certificate though, best regardsStephen Stephen Inner Guard. All the Brethren are doing is confirming that you really are who and what you say you are.. Don't worry if you haven't been to Lodge for years and have forgotten a lot of stuff, there will be things you can remember that will satisfy the Brother you are talking with. Oh yes, if you are an Installed Master, it is necessary that you be interviewed by two Installed Masters, NOT a Master Mason.whoever he may be. On a practical basis, in Kaimanawa, if anyone does have to be proved, we invariably ask one or two of our PMs to have a chat with him. We keep it on an informal friendly basis so it's not intimidating Keith PM. The first visit I did not have to prove myself at all as the secretary put me in touch with them and the other I showed my UGLE certificate which sufficed. One of the things that was said when I was presented with my certificate was to keep it in my case at all times so if visiting another lodge it would prove who I was but I may still be tested. I think this speech maybe fairly standard as I have only seen 1 other certificate presented so far and it was identical but maybe another brother may be able to confirm that. My first test was done by a friend when i visited his lodge and he only asked me 2 questions( and i only needed 1 prompt, i was quite new to the craft at the time). My second test however was conducted by a very zealous brother and lasted about 30 minutes. I did report him afterwards and if i hadn't been visiting with an Australian friend i would have walked out of the lodge. Needless to say i will never return to that lodge. In Scotland the questions to be asked are pretty standard, Where were you first made a mason? pass grip's, tokens and words. just the normal sort of thing. The people who test in our lodge are a PM and the WSW, whether it is a PM or not brother Keith, I'm also sure that this is quite normal throughout Scotland. A tleast I didn't have one. When I went to TX I had forgotten almost everything. I was examined, but couldn't remember anyuthing but the sign of an EA.The Master lauighed and said that I looked and talked like a London Mason, so I could enter. Later I joined the Lodge and was vouched for by the UGLE and my mother Lodge in London. Eventually I becams W:M: of the TX La Feria Lodge 1197 in the 1999-2000 Masonic year.Since then, I have worn Masonic pins to indicate my affiliation with TX Masonry and have been examined , often with the Tyler's Oath. The Mexican Lodges that I have visited did not really require examination, only the sign and passgrip of a MM.
